During the inter-modular period’s principals are supported in their work and at their schools by carefully selected and trained mentors / coaches who have previous experience as heads of schools. The coaching team is headed up by Bruce Probyn who has 26 years as headmaster in running State and Independent schools as centres of excellence. Bruce is supported by Alan Clarke, former head master of Westerford High School, who is currently involved in improving leadership practices in under performing schools, Midge Hilton-Green, recently retired Principal from Christel House, Anne Van Zyl, recently retired Principal from Oprah Winfrey Academy, Clive Barham who retired from Kirstenhof Primary and Keith Richardson, recently retired Principal from Wynberg Boys’ High School.

Schools are visited once a fortnight for minimum of an hour, on a one on one basis with the Principal. Emphasis is placed on mentoring for change, and focuses on fostering leaders who:

Develop a sense of confidence in the principles which enable them to lead effectively.
Put learning first and have the ability to rally the entire school community around this goal.
Have the ability to drive change where this is needed, to address shortcomings and to ensure that quality teaching and learning become the school’s number one priority.
Have the courage to focus on the needs of all children and have a willingness to confront those who may become obstacles to change.
